Lyndsay’s Ball Makeup
It’s not too often I pull out the ‘blues and silvers’ on people, whilst I’m not scared of those colors surfacing in this day and age, I just believe that you have to be really selective of the skin tone and the style you apply it too.
I had done Lyndsay’s makeup before earlier in the year in which we choose for a Red lip and neutral winged eye, which turned out fantastic and was really appropriate for the dress and ball she was going to. (See photo at the bottom of page). However this time Lyndsay was attending her ball in a beautiful steel grey designer dress so it called for alittle bit more dramatic eye to match it and complimenting soft blush pink tones. So here is what I did:
Eyes – Started off with a wash of MAC Naked Lunch over the lid, blending to MAC Brule in the brow highlight. In the creese, I applied MAC Saddle and MAC Cork to assist with the blending out of the following steel/blue/mauve colours. I always love putting a neutral warm tone in the crease with the Mauve and blues as it just gives the eye extra dimension. I then went in with MAC Satin Taupe through the lid to a Viseart Dark Blue/Grey. I layered over the top MAC Sable just to give it a hint of warmth. Finished off with MAC Blacktrack and some Ardell #120 demi lashes.
Skincare – I used Strobe Cream for a moisturizer and just a hint of Laura Mercier Matte through the t-zone, I also love pampering my clients with Kiehl’s Avocado eye cream just to moisturise under the eye and prevent any textured skin with the foundation.
Face – Element Two airbrush was applied and set with Laura Mercier Setting Powder and Laura Mercier undereye setting powder (it has a beautiful light illumination in it to brighten the eye!). I finished off with Nars ‘Deep Throat’ (Terrible name!) blush and MAC Soft n’ Gentle on the cheek highlights.
Lips – Prepped with Rose Balm, I used a MUFE Liner and then went over with MAC Blankety to give a nice neutral lip to not overpower the eyes.
All in all, I love this look. I love the steel blues and the sultry finish with the lashes! Don’t be afraid to try blues and silvers but use it wisely and with the right face!
