Choosing your wedding makeup

What style of bride are you?

When it comes to weddings and bridal style, many brides have a tendency to keep clear of anything that is too extreme. However, letting your unique style show on your wedding day creates a real you and it is best you are comfortable with how you look! Choosing your wedding makeup doesn’t have to be hard. Whilst natural bare makeup may suit you, for photography and longevity it does help to have a little more product and definition in the contouring to make you look fresh, alive and elegant! Many makeup artists fail when coming to natural looking makeup as it just looks like your wearing nothing at all in your wedding photography. And when you spend all that money on the wedding photographer, dress, hair – wouldn’t you want to look the part?

Here are some of my favorite wedding makeup styles:

Classic Bridal Makeupcanberra bridal makeup, canberra makeup artist, canberra hair and makeup, classic bridal makeup, wedding makeup inspiration, brunette wedding makeup, choosing your wedding makeup

This style suits mostly all wedding styles from laidback to extremely formal. With gentle neutral colours to contour and a flush of color to the cheeks, the Classic bride will feel comfortable yet glamorous and elegant. False lashes and airbrushed makeup really finish this look off to add that hollywood feel to it.

This style is also great for almost all face shapes, skin colors and skin texture and ages. Personally one of my favorite looks.

The Retro Bride

Emulating the 1950’s traditional makeup style, this look is all about red lips, big lashes and flawless skin!

This look suits a semi-formal to formal style wedding with a bit of character!

You don’t need to be a regular wearer of red lipstick, but it does pay to know how to handle it in a wedding situation. Red lips can rub! So be careful when kissing and hugging guests – but never fear, there are some great red lipsticks out there to use to

minimize transfer and maximize longevity. MAC Ruby Woo is a great choice for a long lasting red pout, however can be dry on the lips. It pays also moisturize and exfoliate the night before to keep the lips smooth. I supply all my brides with a touchup lipstick on the red they use so it looks fresh and brilliant all night long!

This retro makeup style suits brunettes and blondes and can really vamp your wedding look up! To make sure you are comfortable with this look, I suggest wearing red lipstick a few times before your wedding makeup trial to see if you like the look of it!

The Smokey Eye Bride

Think Kim Kardashian or Mila Kunis. One of my number one requests for formal occasions is the Kim Kardashian smokey eye. Why? Because its freeking HOT! This bridal makeup look suits a fairly formal wedding and normally darker hair brides but also can be tailored and altered from the KK look for blondes to look smouldering!

Smokey eyes can enlarge the eye and make your iris pop in photos. Paired with a gorgeous nude or pale pink lipstick, this look is striking and bold. A fantastic look if you like makeup and being a super star!

I used this photo of Mila Kunis as we all know what KK looks like with a smokey eye, so here is a variation that is not so bold but still oh-so sexy!

Choosing your wedding makeup doesn’t have to be hard! I highly recommend meeting me for a makeup trial so you can sit down and talk about who you are, what your style is and what your makeup ideas are. I am more then happy to suggest a look based on the style of your wedding and your natural features. Start googling photos and looking on pinterest for wedding makeup inspiration and examples!
