SIOBHAN’S CANBERRA WEDDING MAKEUP
It comes around often that I meet a beautiful bride to be who is relaxed, organised, excited and totally in love! Siobhan was exactly this! I had so much fun doing Siobhan’s Wedding makeup for her Canberra Wedding – the morning was so smooth and relaxed.
I find a common agenda for bridal prep mornings is to have the bridal party go to the hair salon then come home for the makeup. With over 5 people this sometimes can be a little tricky to organize times, however every time it has come to the big day with Estella Artistry as makeup artist, things have always gone to plan! The trick is to factor in the travel time for each person, try to go in groups of 2 or 3 and give yourself an extra emergency time period just in case. It is also not a bad idea to make sure you finish all your hair and makeup atleast 1 hour to 1.5 hours prior to departure to the ceremony. This time after your ready can be filled with a host of time consuming little jobs that you may not think about until the day. For example, getting into a lace up dress can take up to 15minutes to put on. Organizing a night bag for the honeymoon suite, having some lunch (it’s important to eat!) and saying hi to visitors that may have arrived.
Siobhan wanted a smokey eye but nothing too over the top. For her trial we tried this with the Ardell #120 demi lashes which gave her eyes a beautiful ‘omph in the glam department! Her trial photo:
On the wedding day, Siobhan was not too sure about the lashes as they are the more dramatic type, so she requested to ‘pull the makeup back’ a bit and go for something alittle less dramatic. I often find brides tend to get to their wedding day and request some little changes which is perfectly fine as the mood of the day can be so different to a trial run and they might feel they need a small change to be 100% happy! So, we took the eyeshadow back alittle and also changed false lashes to the Ardell #110 lashes (my favourite bridal false lash!) and made the tones slightly more peach-pink. As Siobhan tended to have more oliy skin I used only a base primer of Laura Mercier Oil free Primer through the t-zone and MAC Strobe Cream on the cheeks. She was then airbrushed using Element Two airbrush which was set with Laura Mercier Setting Powder. A light wash of MAC Mocha mixed with MAC Peachykeen was added to the cheeks.
